Instant Moong Dal Mix for Cheela, Bhajiya, Kofta, Dahi Vada moong-dal-pre-mix

  • Moong dal - 2 cups
  • Whole coriander - 2 tbsp
  • Whole Red chili - 5 to 6
  • Asafoetida - ½ pinch
  • Baking Soda - ¼ tsp
  • Carom seeds - 1 tsp
  • Tatri - ½ tsp
  • Salt - 2 tsp
  1. Take 2 cups moong dal in a pan and roast it for 2 minutes to remove moisture.Place the dal in a platter.Let it cool.
  2. Take 2 tbsp coriander seeds,5 to 6 red chilies. 1 tsp carom seed.Add ½ pinch asafoetida. Roast the spices for a minute.Once roasted then turn off flame, let them cool off.
  3. To grind dal, put dal in the jar, add 2 tsp salt,add ½ tsp tatri, ¼ tsp baking soda and coarsely grind it. Now add spices,grind again. Do not open lid instantly.
  4. Take out the moong dal masala premix, add water then mix well. Keep it aside for 15 minutes till dal puffs up,If the consistency seems dense,then add small portion of water.
  5. To enhance its flavor you can add green coriander ,add green chilli.
  6. To make bhajiya from it make same as moong dal bhajiya.To make uttapam, spread it thick over tawa,garnish it with veggies,and make sumptuous uttapam on low flame.
  7. To make cheela,then make the batter a bit runny,so that the cheela is thin,spread on tawa,same as plain cheela.
  8. To make koftas,then prepare it same as you make with dal or veggie kofta.
  9. Use this Moong dal masala pre mix in any desired recipe .
