Tandoori momos recipe is a fusion of eastern states and Delhi. It has an amazing taste of veggies and spices which makes it more scrumptious to eat. Serving it along with red chilli sauce or any desired momos dip helps to enhance its taste. 

Here is a step by step recipe along with pictures to make Tandoori Momos. This recipe will help you to make it with two methods with an oven and without oven. 

Direction: 

Getting Ready:

For the stuffing

Take a cup of refined flour in a bowl and add a ¼ teaspoon of salt to it. 

Add a ½ cup of water to it in the intervals and knead the soft dough. 

After kneading the dough, cover and rest the dough for 15 to 20 minutes. 

Take 2 cups of grated flour, a ½ grated carrot and finely chopped green chillies to it. 

 

Preheat a tempering pan and add a tablespoon of oil in it. 

Add an inch of a grated ginger baton, 2 finely chopped green chillies to it on low flame. 

Saute the ingredients and add a ½ teaspoon of salt to it. 

Spread the tempering over it.

Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of green coriander to it and mix well. 

The stuffing is ready. 

For assembling the momos

Mash the dough for 20 minutes. 

Divide it into the dough lumps. 

Keep them aside after covering them. 

Lift a dough lump, roll it into a round-shaped Peda. 

Coat the lump with dry flour and flatten it thinly. 

Keep it thick from the centre and thin from the corners. 

After flattening it, place it on your palms and stuff it with the stuffing.

Seal the stuffing by lifting it from the corner and stick it. 

Fold it from the other side, move it upwards and stick to it. 

Assemble all the momos likewise. 

For steaming the momos

Boil 2 cups of water in a vessel after covering it. 

Grease the strainer with some oil.

Place it over the vessel. 

Arrange the momos over it at some distance. 

Cover and steam the momos for 10 minutes. 

The momos will be steamed cooked after 10 minutes.

For the marinade

Take a ½ cup of curd and add 2 tablespoons of chickpea flour to it. 

Add a teaspoon of red chilli powder and coriander powder to it. 

Add a ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder and salt to it. 

Mix all the ingredients well.

Add the momos to it and coat them well with the marinade. 

Let them rest for 20 minutes. 

For cooking the Tandoori momos in an oven

Assemble momos in a skewer and place them in the oven. 

Bake them at 230-degree centigrade for 10 minutes. 

After 10 minutes, place the skewer on the lower wrack and bake more for 2 minutes.

 

The momo has baked after 12 minutes. 

For cooking tandoori momos on the stove

Take a skewer, assemble the momos on it. 

Place it directly on the flame at some distance. 

Rotate and cook until there are black spots over them on medium flame.

The Tandoori momos are ready to be served. 

For the serving

Coat the momos with butter and spread some coriander leaves over them.

Suggestions 

You can even spread green onion over them and serve them. 

Serve Tandoori momos along with red momos dip, red chilli sauce or mayonnaise.

Ingredients
  • Curd- ½ cup
  • Chickpea flour - 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder -¼ tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala - ¼ tsp
  • Butter - 1 to 2tbsp
  • Refined flour - 1 cup (125 grams)
  • Cabbage (grated) - 2 cups
  • Carrot - 1 (½ cup)
  • Capsicum (finely chopped) - 1 (½ cup)
  • Green coriander (finely chopped) - 1 to 2 tbsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Green chilli (finely chopped, deseed) - 2
  • Ginger baton (grated) - 1 inch
  • Salt - 1 tsp
Instructions
  1. For the stuffing

  3. - Stir to mix well. Add a ½ cup of water to it and knead its soft dough.

  8. - Saute the ingredients and add a ½ teaspoon of salt to it.

  13. - Divide it into the dough lumps and keep them aside after covering.

  29. - Take a ½ cup of curd in a bowl, add 2 tablespoons of chickpea flour to it.
  30. - Add a teaspoon of red chilli powder, a teaspoon of coriander powder, a ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder to it.
  31. - Add a ¼ teaspoon of salt to it and mix all the ingredients well.
  32. - Add the momos to it and coat them well with the mixture.
  33. - Let them rest for 20 minutes.
  34. For cooking Tandoori Momos in an oven
  35. - Preheat oven at 230-degree centigrade
  36. - Assemble them in a skewer and place in the oven.
  37. - Bake for 10 minutes at 230-degree centigrade.
  38. - After 10 minutes, place the skewer on the lower wrack and bake more for 2 minutes.
  39. - The momos will be baked after 12 minutes.
  40. - The Tandoori momos have baked after 12 minutes and ready to be served.
  41. For cooking Tandoori Momos on the stove
  42. - Take a skewer, assemble the momos in it and place it on the stove.
  43. - Rotate and cook until there are black spots over them on medium flame.
  44. - The momos will be cooked once the black spots appear over them.
  45. - After cooking the momos, spread some butter over them and Tandoori momos are ready to be served.
  46. Serving
  47. - Coat the momos with butter and spread some coriander leaves over them,
  48. - You can even spread green onion over them and serve them.
  49. - Serve Tandoori momos along with red momos dip, red chilli sauce or mayonnaise.
