Whole Wheat flour bread recipe – Whole Wheat Brown Bread Recipe

Getting ready:

Take a baking friendly container and apply some oil on it. Spread it evenly and grease container with a brush.

Take wheat flour in a big mixing bowl and make some space in the center. Put salt, sugar and instant dry active yeast in the center and mix it really well by adding little lukewarm water into it.

Now add 1 tbsp of oil into it. Mix it really well. Then add lukewarm water in small portions and knead a soft dough. Grease the hand with some oil and knead the dough continuously for 5-6 minutes until it becomes smooth. 1 cup and 2 tbsp of water is used for kneading this much amount of flour.

Apply some oil on hand and lift the dough. Place it into the greased container shaping it accordingly. Spread the dough evenly with the help of the fingers. Now cover and keep the dough inside the oven and place a bowl filled with boiled water near it for 2-3 hours to set. You can also place it inside the almirah.

After 3 hours, check the dough. It has doubled in size. Preheat an oven at 220 degree centigrade. Now place a wire rack inside it and keep the container on it. Bake the bread for 15 minutes at 220 degree centigrade. After 15 minutes, take out the container. Bread hasn’t baked aptly. Place it back inside the oven and bake the bread for another 8 minutes.

After 8 minutes, take the container out. Bread has turned golden brown in color. It is baked aptly. Allow it to cool down completely. Then move a knife around the edges of the container and flip the side of the container. Bread will come out.

Apply some ghee on the bread. It will enhance the taste of the bread. Whole wheat bread is now ready.

Slice the bread into ½ cm inch thick pieces and have this delicious and soft whole wheat bread warm as it is. Once it cools down completely, store it in a container and place it in refrigerator. It keeps good for 2-3 days.

  • If you are using dry active yeast then you have to activate it. For that, take yeast and add 2-3 tbsp water. Cover and keep it aside for 10 minutes to activate. After that, use it.
  • Baking time varies from oven to oven. So, firstly bake the bread for 15 minutes and then keep baking it for few minutes while checking in-between until the bread turns golden brown from top and baked through aptly.

7. After this, knead the dough again to press it down. Then divide the dough into 8 equal lumps.

8. Roll these dough lumps into smooth and round dough balls and place them on a greased baking dish. Keep some distance between the dough balls.

10. Preheat an oven to 200 degree centigrade and place the tray inside the oven. Bake the pavs at 200 degree centigrade for 10 minutes. Place it on middle rack.
