Getting ready:

Stack the bread slices and chop them into small chunks. Keep them on a plate.bread poha

Heat a wok with the oil. When the oil gets heated, put the red mustard seeds in it. As the seeds starts spluttering, add green chilly and ginger in it. Saute them for a while. Then add the peanuts in the wok and saute for 30 seconds until they become light brown.bread poha

Now add the green peas in the wok and saute for a minute until they become crunchy. Then add the tomatoes and stir fry them for 1 to 2 minutes so that they become tender.bread poha

Further add the potatoes and salt in the wok and saute for 1 to 2 minutes. Later, add the bread pieces and some green coriander. Mix everything really well and cook for 2 minutes.bread poha

Suggestions: 

  • If you prefer eating onion then saute ½ finely chopped onion after crackling of red mustard seeds until they become light pink. Later, prepare the bread poha in same manner.
  • If your kids doesn’t eat chilly at all then skip adding the green chilly in the poha.

Place a wok on flame and pour some oil into it. Oil should be very hot for frying poha. When the oil is sufficiently hot, put some poha into it but make sure you don’t crowd the oil. Keep flipping the poha flakes and fry them till crispy. Fry them on high flame.

Once the poha is fried aptly, transfer it on a sieve placed over a bowl so that the excess oil gets drains out to the bowl. Keep the flame on low while taking the poha out from oil. Similarly, fry the rest of the poha.

Strain the oil to remove the particles of poha. Pour the oil back into the wok and drop the peanuts into it. Keep stirring the peanuts continuously and fry them on medium-low flame until they turn golden brown in color.

Peanuts have turned golden brown and fragrant. It took 6-7 minutes to fry them. Now turn off the flame and transfer them on a sieve placed over a bowl so that the excess oil drains back into the bowl.

  • peanuts – 1 cup (200 grams)
  • Namkeen sev – 1 cup
  • Raisins - ¼ cup
  • Tatri – 2 (big chana sized)
  • Salt - ¾ tsp or to taste
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  • Oil – to fry poha
Instructions

Peel and chop potatoes into small pieces. Chop carrot and baby corn in small pieces.

Keep the poha in a strainer and rinse it in running water. Do not rinse it too much as it can break and get mushy. Add ½ tsp salt and sugar to the poha and keep it aside for 15 minutes.

Heat some oil in a wok and add potato chunks into it to fry until little golden brown and crispy. Drain them out with a slotted spoon and keep aside.

In the same wok, add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds splutter add curry leaves, chopped green chilies, finely chopped corn, finely chopped carrots and green peas. Saute for a minute or so until the veggies become tender but still had a crunch.
