Rusk, also known as toast, prepared with refined flour are bread slices crisped twice in the oven. Milk rusks are nothing different but rusk prepared with milk powder. Everyone enjoys them with a cup of milk or tea, right from kids to adults.
Follow the steps along with the images to prepare milk rusk at home.
Directions:
1. Mix 1 cup of maida, 2 tbsp of sugar powder, 2 tbsp of milk powder, 1-pinch salt, and 1 tsp of active dry yeast in a bowl.
2. Pour lukewarm water gradually into the maida and knead a soft dough.
3. Knead the dough with a little oil to make it soft.
4. Cover and leave the dough for 1 or 1.5 hours to set in a warm place.
5. Take the dough out on a board, apply a little oil, and knead the dough for 5-6 minutes.
6. Spread the dough into a big round sheet and fold it from the bottom towards the top.
7. Lay butter paper on a baking container and brush oil over it.
8. Keep the dough log in the container, cover it with a cloth, and keep it in a warm place.
9. Preheat the oven at 170° centigrade for 8 minutes.
10. Bake the dough at 170° centigrade for 10 minutes.
11. Turn the tray around after 10 minutes and bake it for another 5 minutes.
12. Brush oil over the bread and leave the bread for 30 minutes to cool down.
13. Take the bread loaf out from the container and discard the butter paper.
14. Slice the bread loaf and bake them at 170° centigrade for 15 minutes.
15. Turn the bread slices and crisp them at 160° centigrade for 10 minutes.
