Matar Muthiya is a steamed snack prepared with coarsely ground peas mixed with wheat and gram flour. When looking for a healthy and oil-free breakfast recipe, try preparing Matar ki Muthiya. It’s an easy and quick breakfast recipe. You can either serve steamed muthia or add Tadka to the steamed Muthia to make them extra-delicious.

Follow the directions below along with the images to prepare delicious matar muthia:

Directions:

1. Take 3/4 cup of green peas and grind them coarsely.

2. Take the ground peas out in a bowl and mix 1/2 cup wheat flour, 1/2 cup of besan, and 1/2 cup finely chopped Methi.

3. Add 1 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp of coriander powder, 2-finely chopped green chilies, 1/2 tsp of crushed red chili powder, and 1 tsp of grated ginger.

4. Mix 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp of carom seeds, 1/4 cup of curd, and less than 1/4 tsp of baking soda.

5. Add water gradually to the mixture and prepare a soft dough.

6. Pour 2-3 cups of water into a cooking vessel and bring it to a boil.

7. Grease a sieve with a little oil.

8. Apply a little oil to your hands and divide the dough into 2-portions.

9. Roll the dough portions into 1 or 1/4 inches diameter log and keep them on the greased sieve.

10. Place the sieve on the vessel and steam the muthia for 2 minutes over high heat.

11. After 2 minutes, steam the muthiya for 20 minutes over the medium flame.

12. Take the muthiya out and allow them to cool down for 5 minutes.

13. Cut matar muthiya into 1/2 inch pieces and serve with chutney.

or

14. Heat 3-4 tsp of oil in the pan.

15. Add 1 tsp of sesame seeds, 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds, less than 1/4 tsp of salt, less than 1/4 tsp of red chili powder to the hot oil.

16. Place the Muthias into the pan and crispy them from both sides.

17. Green peas muthiya is ready to be served.

18. Add 1 cup green coriander, 2-green chilies, 1-inch ginger baton, 1-pinch hing, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp of black salt, 1/2 tsp of salt, 3/4 tsp of amchur, and some water to the blender.

19. Blend the content in the mixture and prepare a fine paste.

20. Green coriander chutney is ready to be served.

  • For Dough:
  • Peas - ¾ Cup
  • Wheat Flour - ½ Cup (75 gms)
  • Gram Flour - ½ Cup (60 gms)
  • Fenugreek Leaves - ½ Cup, finely chopped
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp
  • Coriander Powder - ½ tsp
  • Green Chilli - 2, finely chopped
  • Red Chilli - ½ tsp,
  • Ginger - 1 tsp, grated
  • Cumin Seeds - ½ tsp
  • Carom Seeds - ½ tsp
  • Curd - ¼ Cup
  • Baking Soda - a little less than ¼ tsp
  • For Chutney:
  • Coriander Leaves - 1 Cup
  • Black Salt - ½ tsp
  • Salt - ½ tsp
  • Cumin Seeds - ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida - 1 pinch
  • Ginger - 1-inch baton, chopped
  • Green Chilli - 2, chopped
  • Dry Mango Powder - 1 tsp
  • For Tadka:
  • Oil - 3 - 4 tsp
  • Sesame Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds - ½ tsp
  • Salt - ¼ tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder - ⅛ tsp
