Chana Dal Masala vadas have ground chana dal crunch and cabbage unique texture. You can prepare and enjoy these Vadas during the monsoon with green coriander chutney and tomato sauce. The preparation requires no extra-ordinary efforts and gets ready in no time.
Follow the directions along with the images to prepare Chana Dal Masala Vada.
Direction:
1. Take 1 cup chana dal and soak it for 4-5 hours or overnight.
2. Add 4-5 green chilies and 1-inch ginger baton to a mixer jar and blend.
3. Add dal to the mixer (save ½ cup dal) and coarsely blend.
4. Transfer the ground dal and 1/2 cup chana dal to a bowl.
5. Add 1 cup grated cabbage, 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of crushed red chili, 1 tsp of coriander powder, ½ tsp of jeera, ¼ tsp garam masala, 1-2 tbsp of green coriander, and mix well.
6. Mix ½ cup besan in the mixture for binding.
7. Apply a little oil to your hands, take out a little mixture, and bind it into a vada shape.
8. Heat the oil in the pan. We need medium-high hot oil for frying.
9. Place the Vadas in the pan, and shallow fry them from the bottom until brown.
10. Flip the vada and fry them from the other side till brown. Each batch takes 6-7 minutes to fry up.

Chickpeas Dal - 1 cup ( 200 grams)
Green Chilli - 4 or 5
Ginger - 1-inch baton
Cabbage - 1 cup, grated
Salt - 1 tsp
Red Chilli - 1 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
Garam Masala - ¼ tsp
Green Coriander - 1 tbsp
Chickpea Flour - ½ cup (50 grams)
