How to Make Soya Chaap Curry – Soya Chaap with Gravy

Soya chaap, primarily a Northern Indian dish is enriched with proteins and is appealing and tempting to eat. This delight is a pure vegetarian dish but is considered equivalent to a non-vegetarian dishes. So, today I am presenting a super delicious and easy to make soya chaap curry recipe for you all.

I have used soya chaap sticks which are prepared of soya flour and are really healthy and nutritious. Here I have chopped down the soya chunks, deep fried them and sautéed in desi species. Everyone will surely like this recipe for sure. So, follow this easy to make recipe of Soya chaap curry yourself and impress your dear ones. Enjoy!

Directions

Getting ready:

Chop off the soya chunks in 1-1.5 inch chunks.

Finely chop tomato-ginger-green chilly and grind finely to make a fine paste.

Heat some oil in a pan and fry the chunks until they get brow in color and cooked through. Drain out the chunks on kitchen paper towels to remove excess oil.

Splutter cumin seeds in the remaining oil. Then add asafoetida, turmeric powder, coriander powder, dry fenugreek seeds, along with whole spices i.e. black pepper, cinnamon stick, clove and cardamom (peeled). Saute the spices until fragrant. Then add tomato-ginger-green chilly paste, followed by red chilly powder and saute until you see oil leaving the sides of the masala. Now to the masala add garam masala and cream.

Keep stirring constantly until you see gentle boil in the masala. Add ½ cup water to the masala and stir constantly until the gravy starts simmering again. Mix some green coriander to the gravy along with salt and soya chaap chunks.

Cover and let the curry simmer for 4-5 minutes on low flame so that the soya chunks absorb all the spices well. Spicy soya chaap curry is now ready. Transfer to another bowl.

Serve this awesome soya chaap curry garnished with coriander sprigs with steaming hot with any Indian bread like butter naan, parantha or chapatti. It also goes well with plain rice or jeera rice as well.

  • After adding cream to the masala keep stirring continuously to prevent cream from cuddling.
  • Also don’t add salt along with cream so that it maintain its texture.

Ingredients
  • Soya chaap - 3-4 (250 grams)
  • Tomato - 3 (250 grams)
  • Ginger - 1 inch
  • Green chilly - 1 piece
  • Cream - 100 grams
  • Oil - 3-4 tbsp
  • Green coriander - 2-3 tbsp (finely chopped)

  • Cumin seeds - ¼ tsp

  • Garam masala - less than ¼ tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Dry fenugreek leaves - 1 tsp
  • Whole spices - brown cardamom -1, cinnamon stick - 1, clove - 2, Black pepper - 6-7
  • Salt - 1 tsp (as per taste)
