Masala Chakli is a spiral shape Diwali special savory snack. In this article, we are going to prepare chakli with maida and spices. Everyone will love this crunchy and spiral shape chalki. Let’s get started!

Direction:

1. Fold 2 cups of maida in a cotton cloth and put it in a steel bowl.

2. Pour 1 cup water into the cooker and keep a bowl as a stand inside.

4. Place the maida bowl in a pressure cooker.

5. After a whistle, cook the maida for 15 minutes over low-medium flame. Turn off the flame and wait for the cooker pressure to clear.

8. Take the maida out and pound it with a pestle and untie it.

8. Sift the maida into a bowl and add spices.

9. Add 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of crushed black pepper, 1/2 tsp of carom seeds, 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds, 1 tsp of sesame seeds in maida and mix well.

10. Add water gradually and knead a soft dough.

11. Take a chakli mold and put some dough inside.

12. Grease a plate with oil to prepare chakli.

13. Press out the dough from the mold and move your hand in a circular motion to get a spiral shape.

14. Break the elongated dough and stick it to the last concentric circle.

15. Heat the oil in the Kadai for frying.

16. Drop the chalki in the oil for frying when the oil is hot.

17. Fry the chakli till light brown from all sides. Each batch will take 3-4 minutes.

18. Crunchy maida chaklis are ready to be served.

  • Refined Flour - 1 cup (130 grams)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  • Carom seeds - ½ tsp
  • Black pepper - ½ tsp, crushed
  • Salt - ½ tsp
  • and
  • Oil for frying
