Sweet Corn Halwa – Makai ka Halwa recipe – Sweet Corn Sheera

This halwa is prepared with the regular ingredients that are required for making any halwa i.e. milk, ghee, sugar, green cardamom and dry fruits. Getting ready:

Remove the fiber of the sweet corns and wash them thoroughly with water. Allow them to dry out completely. After that, grate the sweet corns with a grater to extract its cream. You can scrape the sweet corns with a knife to extract its cream.

Soak the almonds for 1 hour. Then peel the almonds and slice them into thin pieces. Chop each cashew into 3-4 small chunks. Thinly slice the pistachios as well. Peel green cardamom and crush its seeds into fine powder.

Place a non-stick pan on flame and pour some ghee into it. When the ghee is melted, add sweet corn paste into it. Keep stirring continuously and cook the paste until it turns golden brown in color. Move the ladle to the bottom of the pan, don’t keep the flame on high.

Once the sweet corn paste is roasted aptly, add milk and sugar into it. Mix it really well and cook the halwa on low flame. Stir it at regular interval of 1-2 minutes.

Halwa has turned thick, now add chopped cashews, some almonds and the remaining ghee into it. Mix it really well. Turn off the flame.

At last, add green cardamom powder into it. Mix it thoroughly into the halwa. Transfer it into a serving bowl.

  • If you want to make this halwa with sweet corn kernels then take 1 cup of corns kernels and prepare its paste and use it. But the corns kernels contains husks, so prepare it if you have no qualms on having husk.
  • If you want to add mawa into the halwa then roast ½ cup of mawa until it turns golden brown in colour and keep it aside. Then roast the sweet corn paste and add mawa to it.
