Getting ready:

Rinse green chickpea thoroughly with water. Drain out excess water from it. Dry out them completely. Then transfer the green chickpea into a mixer jar. Churn it to prepare a coarse paste of it.

Chop each cashew into 8-10 small pieces. Place it in a bowl. Thinly slice almonds and pistachios and keep them in separate bowls. Peel green cardamom and crush its seeds into fine powder.

Place a pan on flame and pour some ghee into it. Keep some ghee for later use. Once the ghee is melted, add green chickpea paste into it. Keep stirring continuously and roast the green chickpea paste until there is a change in colour and becomes fragrant. Keep the flame on medium-low. Move the spatula to the bottom of the pan and roast the paste.

Ghee is separating from the edges of the green chickpea paste. It is now roasted well. Keep the flame on low and add milk and sugar into it. Mix it really well. Let it cook until it starts simmering.

Once the halwa starts to simmer, cook it until it turns thick in consistency. Stir it at regular intervals. Now add sliced almonds and sliced pistachios, chopped cashews and green cardamom powder into it. Mix all the ingredients really well.

Now halwa have turned thick. Pour some ghee on it. Mix it really well.

Green chickpea halwa is now ready. Turn off the flame. Transfer the halwa in a serving bowl.

Pour a tbsp of ghee on the halwa and sprinkle cashews, almonds and pistachios as well. Serve this mouth-watering and delicious green chana halwa as it is as a dessert after meal or have it whenever you crave for something sweet. Store it in refrigerator and have it within 3-4 days. Enjoy!

  • Use non-stick pan for roasting green chickpea paste as it sticks on the pan. If you are using steel wok then use enough ghee to roast the paste.
  • Here we have used cashews, almonds and pistachios for making halwa. You can add any dry fruits as per your choice. You can increase, decrease, add or remove any dry fruits as desired. You can also adjust the quantity of sugar as per taste.
  • You can make this halwa with mawa. For this, roast the mawa separately and add it into the halwa. Mix it well. After that, if you add water in it instead of milk then also the halwa will taste super delicious.
