Raw Banana Fry Recipe – Kachcha Kela Masala Sabzi Recipe

Directions

Getting ready:

Discard the stalks from both the sides of the banana and peel off its skin. Now cut the banana into ½ inch long pieces. Place them in a bowl.

Wash the tomatoes and green chillies thoroughly with water. Allow them to dry out completely then roughly chop the tomatoes, green chillies and ginger and place in a mixer jar. Prepare a fine paste of it. Transfer it into a bowl.

Place a vessel on flame and pour some water into it. Now add turmeric, salt and raw banana into it. Cover the vessel and let it cook for 3-4 more minutes after the water starts boiling.

After 3-4 minutes, remove the lid and gently press a banana pieces. It has turned tender. Turn off the flame and transfer the raw banana pieces on a sieve placed over a bowl.

Now place a pan on flame and pour 1.5 tbsp of oil into it. When the oil gets heated, add cumin seeds and asafoetida into it. Once the seeds starts spluttering, add turmeric powder, coriander powder, tomato-ginger-green chilly paste and red chilly powder into it. Saute the masala until the oil starts separating from its edges.

After 3-4 minutes, oil has started leaving the edges of the masala. Add salt, garam masala and boiled raw banana into the masala. Mix everything really well until each piece of banana is nicely coated with the masala.

Everything is now mixed through. Add chopped green coriander into it. Mix it really well. Turn off the flame and serve it in a serving bowl.

Ingredients
  • Raw banana – 500 grams
  • Tomato – 2-3
  • Ginger baton – 1 inch
  • Green chillies – 2
  • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida – 1-2 pinches
  • Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Red chilly powder - ¼ tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp or to taste
  • Garam masala – less than ¼ tsp
  • Green coriander – 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Oil – to make sabzi
