Rava idli is very easy to prepare in microwave. Rava idli is prepared with few ingredients i.e. semolina, some veggies, curry leaves, mustard seeds, salt, eno fruit salt and few more ingredients. It is so easy to prepare in microwave that you can prepare it in hustle and bustle of morning hours. It tastes super scrumptious.

Getting ready:

Finely chop the curry leaves by making a bunch of it.

Take a microwave safe idli moulds and pour some oil in each mould. Spread it evenly.

Take 2 small glass bowls and pour some oil into. Spread it evenly and grease them as well.

Take semolina in a big mixing bowl and add curd into it. Mix it really well. Add ¼ cup of water into it. Mix it really well. Prepare a batter as required for making lentil idlis.

Now add salt, ginger paste, chopped green chilly and some chopped green coriander into the batter. Mix all the ingredients really well.

After that add chopped capsicum, chopped tomato and chopped carrots into the batter. Mix all the veggies really well into the batter. Batter is now ready. Cover and keep the batter aside for 10 minutes so that the semolina becomes puffy.

10 minutes are over. Remove the lid. Batter has turned thick. Add 2-3 tbsp of water into it. Mix it really well. Now add tempering to it.

For this, heat a small pan and pour some oil into it. When the oil gets heated, add mustard seeds into it. When the seed starts spluttering then turn off the flame and add curry leaves into it.

Once the tempering gets ready, add this tempering into the batter as well. Mix it really well.

After that, add eno fruit salt into the batter and mix it well. Don’t whisk the batter too much. Idli batter is now ready.

Pour a spoonful of idli batter into each greased mould. Place the idli mould inside the microwave and cook it for 1.5 minutes on highest temperature.

After 1.5 minutes, take the mould out. Veg rawa idli is now cooked aptly. Allow it to cool down.

Now pour the idli batter into the greased glass bowls as well. Half fill the bowls. Place the bowl inside the microwave and cook it for 2 minutes on highest temperature.

Take out the bowls after 2 minutes gets over. These rawa idlis are cooked aptly as well. Similarly, prepare the rest of the rawa idlis until the batter is utilized completely. Allow the idlis to cool down.

Once the idlis cools off, take them out. For this, move a knife around the edges of the idli mould and take them out on a plate. Likewise, transfer all the idlis from bowl as well. Veg rawa idlis in microwave are now ready.

Suggestions

  • Take thick granule semolina for making idlis.
  • You can add veggies according to your choice or availability. You can add chopped beans, green peas or cauliflower.
  • If you don’t have microwave safe idli moulds then use glass bowl for making idli in microwave.
  • Cook the idlis in microwave according to the quantity you are placing inside it. It can take 1.5, 2, 2.5 or 3 minutes to cook them aptly. Then check them, if the colour of the idli is white and it looks like batter that means they are not cooked and place them back inside and keep increasing the time until they get cooked through.

  • Semolina – 1 cup

  • Capsicum – 1 (finely chopped)

  • Red mustard seeds – ½ tsp

  • Ginger – 1 inch grated or 1 tsp paste
  • Salt – ½ tsp or to taste
  • Eno fruit salt – ½ tsp
Instructions
