Sabudana Thalipeeth Recipe – Sago Dosa Recipe for Vrat

Sabudana Thalipeeth is dish of Maharashtra. This savory dish is usually made for religious fasting days. But you can also enjoy eating this delectable dish during breakfast and supper as a light snack. We all often include sago pearls khichdi or vadas during fasting. But to break the monotony, today I have an amazing and great recipe of Sabudana thalipeeth for you all.

Making this recipe is very easy and ideal as a light snack for those who are fasting. Serve them piping hot with a falahari chutney or dip and raita. These thalipeeth keeps one full for longer. So, here’s simple recipe for making sabudana sago pearls. Enjoy!

Directions

Getting ready:

Rinse 1 cup sago pearls and soak them in 1 cup clean water for 2 hours. Drain out the excess water, if visible.

Boil and peel the potatoes.

Grate the boiled potatoes in a big mixing bowl.

Making:

To the mashed potatoes add sago pearls.

Further add flour, salt, black pepper, cumin seeds, green coriander, green chilly, peanuts and ginger in a big mixing bowl.

Mix all ingredients really well and knead soft dough.

Preheat the tawa, for making Thalipeeth. Place a polythene sheet on rolling plate.

Grease your hands with some ghee. Pinch little amount of dough and make a round dough ball.

Flatten the dough ball with your hands and place it on the plastic sheet.

Grease the dough ball with some ghee and cover it with sheet.

Now with help of hands or rolling pin, roll it into 3-4 inch diameter round sheet.

Spread some ghee on preheated tawa.

Now separate the rolled thalipeeth from plastic sheet.

Place it on tawa. Make a small hole in the center of thalipeeth.

Pour some ghee in the hole as well as all around it.

When the color gets dark on the surface, flip the side and cook until it gets golden brown on both sides.

Transfer it to a plate. Likewise prepare rest of the sabudana thalipeeth.

Ingredients

  • Sendha salt (Rock salt) - ¾ tsp
