Chakli is a deep fried snack made from various ingredients. Chakli can be prepared with numerous styles. You can add dal flour and gram flour to the rice flour or with refined flour or only rice flour. Making chaklis varies from region to region. We can very easily and instantly make chakli with any intensive labor.

These tempting and delicious chaklis can be prepared for any party or special occasion. It is also known as murukku in southern India. You can prepare rice chakali with any ingredients that is available in your kitchen. Like i had urad dal flour, moong dal flour and gram flour available in my kitchen, so i have used the third method to make Rice Chakali. So, here the recipe for making rice flour chakli. Just follow this simple and easy recipe. Enjoy.

Directions

Getting ready:

1. Sieve rice flour in a bowl.

2. Heat some water to knead flour. Take 1 cup water in any vessel and place it on flame for simmering.

3. When you see gentle boil in the water, add 1 tsp oil, black pepper powder, fennel powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt and asafoetida. Turn off the flame.

4. Mix everything really well and mix rice flour water to it. Cover and keep aside for 20 minutes.

5. After 20 minutes are done, take out the dough from the vessel and knead it with your hands until you get stiff and tight dough.

6. Grease your hands with some oil and knead the dough. Dough is now ready.

7. Pinch small portion from the dough and roll it vertically.

8. Place this dough into the chakli machine.

9. Fix the chakli making mold and close the machine.

10. Spread a thick polythene sheet on the kitchen top or a rolling board.

11. Press the pestle on the machine and move it in circular motion to get chaklis. Prepare 6 to 7 chaklis at a time on the sheet.

12. Heat some oil in a wok. Lift the chakli from the polythene sheet and slide it to the wok.

13. Place 3 to 4 or as many chaklis as possible in the hot oil.

14. Fry the chaklis until they get golden brown in color.

15. Drain out the fried chaklis on paper kitchen towels to remove excess oil. Likewise prepare all the chaklis from the entire dough and deep fry. Rice chakli is ready.

16. Serve these scrumptious rice chaklis whenever you want and relish eating. Let the chakli cool down completely and store them in an airtight container. They keep good for upto 2 months.

Suggestions

  • Make sure you knead soft dough for making the chaklis.
  • The oil while frying the chaklis should not be too hot. Fry the chaklis in medium hot oil to get perfect ones.
  • For 30 to 32 chaklis
  • Time – 55 minutes
